I have spent the last ten years in Los Angeles as an actress, stand-up comic and host, but recently decided to open up my own business. I've always loved getting my nails done and the feeling you get after a treatment. The idea of The Painted Nail came to me after I had gone to a nail salon in Studio City, CA. I had just received a mani/pedi with foot massage (you'll never keep me out of my Louboutins!) and left feeling very dissatisfied. I felt like there was so much more that could be done to make the experience better.
For all the money I paid, the nail salon was actually pretty lame. The atmosphere was depressing, the chairs were uncomfortable, the music was atrocious and I was continually pressured to add extra services. You go to a nail salon to relax, but I was rushed through the whole process and I started to wonder when the last time they properly sanitized their equipment. All I could think was, "We deserve better than this," and that's when I decided to find out for myself.
I started doing some research and quickly became obsessed. Since then I've visited dozens of nail salons, spas, bars and lounges and have read hundreds of reviews on the Internet. My feeling is, "Why can't there be a place you trust and love but can also afford?" Everybody loves Ritz Carlton Spa but who can afford to go once a week? My research taught me exactly what I would love and expect from a nail salon and thus the idea of The Painted Nail was born!
